Many people who have a car or are wishing to own one, are unaware of the differences between an SUV, Sedan, Crossover and Hatchbacks. Learning about the differences will assist them in figuring out the right car for their needs.
SUV is the short form of sports utility vehicle or suburban utility vehicle. A Mercedes SUV is basically a 4-wheel drive that can be driven off-road on coarse surfaces but is commonly driven in highways and the city.
It is manufactured on a light in weight truck chassis, with a towing capacity equivalent to a pickup truck. Its seating capacity is same as that of a large sized sedan but doesn’t provide a separate cargo compartment. High ground clearance, huge weight and body size are reasons that make their fuel economy low.
A standard Sedan car features two rows of passenger seats. The back-side compartment seating is sufficient for adult passengers. Cargo area lies in the rear but it is partitioned off from the seating space. Compared to all the other cars, Sedan is one such car that provides the least storage capacity. This 4-door car is highly popular and seen in large numbers in Middle East countries.
This one is basically a car whose configuration features a rear door. This door occupies the area of the trunk present in sedans and swings in upward direction when opened to reach the cargo area. In this type of car, the 2nd row seats are allowed to be folded to enhance cargo storage space. When the up-swinging back side door is taken into consideration, Hatchback cars are classified as a 3-door or a 5-door car.
The full-form of CUV is “Crossover Utility Vehicle”. It is made on a platform that combines the features of an Hatchback and SUV. Due to this combination, the resultant configuration is named as a crossover.
This car mostly has a high gravity center, independent back end wheel suspension, superior level fuel economy and high ground clearance just like sedans. You can find crossovers in rear wheel drives, front wheel drives, and all wheel drives. As these cars are not designed for off road capability, its selection is solely based on the manufacturer.
Cars are classified into several different models on the basis of their body characteristics such as height, model, engine capacity etc. The above explanation will help you choose the best one out of the different car models.
